These are affordable container units. The new modern eco-friendly trend is container housing. These things are amazing! They are waterproof, fireproof, & built to withstand extreme weather. And they are beautiful! Most importantly, they are affordable. Fully dressed with rooms, insulation and utilities are around $50,000.
Here is an example of the style we are planning, but with each window being a dog door that leads to a fenced in run for exercise and play, all day long.
Each building will house up to 16 dogs, each unit having (8) 10x10 rooms, 4 on each side, with pairs of companions to share each unit. Some will need their own unit, but it’s been our experience, playmates thrive and cuddle together, which is our goal.
The largest expense we are facing is the infrastructure/land preparation. Once we have the land prepared, we can set the units quickly.
Involved in Preparation:
Retention Pond & Drainage & site leveling
Utility excavation
Drive Path / Parking
The Pond and the “street” can earn your naming rights with donation of the services required to build. Houses can also earn naming rights for the price of the unit set up.
About Project Pit Stop
The Pit Stop is an initiative of Grateful Rescue & Sanctuary, led by racing royalty family members & Grateful Rescue Board of Director members, Norma (Al Jr) Unser and Debi Rahal. Through them, other fellow drivers, and the help of racing fans, Project Pit Stop exists to fund housing for Indianapolis Pit Bulls on Death Row, who are facing death due to the overpopulation crisis. Many of these Pit Bulls are not dangerous. They are just scared.
Here are 3 Pits that were rescued off Death Row at the 11th Hour by Grateful, deemed dangerous due to stress reactivity, therefore at the top of the list: Solar, Flex & Willow.
