Two Dogs Find Help With Davey and Quincy Hamilton—and Hope for a Forever Home

Two dogs believed to have been abandoned near the property of race car driver Davey Hamilton and his wife, Quincy, are getting a second chance—with help from Grateful Rescue and a connection to the racing community.

Quincy says she went out in her car to approach the dogs. When she called, they came running with wagging tails. She brought them into a pasture, fed them and quickly earned their trust.

“They follow me everywhere,” Quincy says. “They’re just the sweetest.”

The dogs appeared to have gone without food, and their paws showed signs of wear. Despite their condition, the Hamiltons describe them as friendly and affectionate.

To find help, Quincy contacted Norma, the wife of Davey’s longtime friend and fellow racing driver Al Unser Jr. Norma then reached out to Grateful Rescue.

The dogs’ story is also helping launch a rescue effort called Pit Stop, bringing a racing theme to the work of helping dogs find homes.

Davey hopes animal lovers and motorsports fans will get involved.

For the Hamiltons, the goal is simple: give the dogs time to heal and help them find a loving family. They believe the pair may be a mother and her younger offspring, and they hope the dogs can stay together.

“They’re very, very close,” Davey says. “They love each other.”

Watch the video to meet the dogs and hear how the Hamiltons stepped in to help.
